About the memorial: The memorial is located outside the church. The memorial arch has three sculptures above the lists of names to the fallen. The memorial is made of blonde sandstone and comprises a rectangular block on front of which is listed the names of the fallen. This is about 2 to 3m long by 1m high. Above this block, there is a metal sculpture of Christ on the cross flanked to the left by a standing woman and to the left by a standing man. The standing figures seem to be slightly less than lifesize, although Christ is lifesize. The sandstone memorial forms two columns and then an arch over this trio of sculptures. On the left hand arch is the Greek symbol ‘alpha’ and on the right hand arch the symbol ‘omega’. At the apex of the arch is a dove, directly above the cross. The memorial also forms a wall behind the statuary apart from the arms and apex of the cross, which are open. Above the archway is inscribed WAR 1914 – 1918 PEACE. Overall size of the memorial is about 4 to 5m high by 2 to 3m wide and 1 to 2m deep.
