About the memorial: Garden of Remembrance overlooking the harbour, with two freestanding grey stone pillars/tablets standing on top of the low retaining wall on the side nearest the harbour. These tablets record the names of the fallen of both WW1 and WW2, in alphabetical order, irrespective of the war in which they fought, giving the forename and surname in full, a unit abbreviation (RAF, RN, KLR, RHA, etc.) and either WW1, WW2 or left blank. The tablets are flanked by metal railings to right and left and between the two tablets these railings are in the form of poppies, being formed of slightly curving upright railings representing the stalks with well crafted wrought iron poppy heads. Right in the centre between the two pillars/tablets is a flagpole (usually) flying the flag of the Isle of Man. The area immediately in front of the pillars/tablets is paved with red and grey brick, set into which are upward facing lights that illuminate the pillars/tablets from below (large white lights illuminating the tablets and smaller, red, lights illuminating the poppies). Inside the area of the memorial garden, the entrance is flanked by well maintained grassed areas complete with wooden benches with dedication plaques (not war-related but to individual local people) and a litter bin to keep the area tidy. A further inscribed stone plaque on the wall nearest to (and facing) the road indicates that the memorial was rededicated on 11 November 2014 and includes a list of Port St Mary Commissioners. Overall, a very impressive memorial being kept in excellent order by the Port St Mary Commissioners, who are responsible for it. Isle of Man National Inventory of War Memorials: IOM_NIWM_RUS_00006
