About the memorial: There are three freestanding stones in this location. From left to right, stone number one, is of sandstone, and set onto the front face are three metal plates, the first in anodised aluminium bearing the Town Crest of Driffield, the remaining two are bronze plaques( lettering embossed) showing the Remembrance prayer and a Roll of Honour.The second and centre stone is of Granite and is a memorial in honour of those who served in 462 and 466 Squadrons R.A.A.F.Driffield and Leconfield. The front face is engraved with the 466-462 Squadron Association badge (no war-time badges were authorised for either squadron), images of the Wellington and Halifax Bombers and an inscription. The right hand and third stone is of sandstone with metal plate in memory of those who died as a result of an air raid on R.A.F Driffield 15 August 1940

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

Before applying for a grant you should read the advice available on War Memorials Trust`s website. The What we can and cannot fund helpsheet explains what types of work the charity can fund.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
