About the memorial: Within the church, on the left hand (north) wall of the nave, near the Chancel.An impressive marble memorial tablet, with broad curved border, within which is a narrow border of blue stone. To the left of the central panel is a coloured mosaic of St. George in armour, sword in right hand and lance with pennant in the left hand. The central panel, surmounted by the badge of the Rifle Brogade, commemorates Lieutenant, the Honourable, Albert Edward George Arnold Keppel, 2nd Bn The Rifle Brigade who was killed in action on 31 July, 1917. Above the tablet is the original steel helmet worn by Lieutenant Keppel, upon the rim of which is a small brass plaque.

TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN EVER LOVING MEMORY OF LIEUT. THE HON. ALBERT EDWARD GEORGE ARNOLD KEPPEL 2ND BATTALION THE RIFLE BRIGADE WHO FELL IN ACTION NEAR WESTHOEK IN FLANDERS ON 31ST JULY 1917 AGED 19 YEARS WHILE GALLANTLY LEADING HIS COMPANY TO THE ATTACK ON AN ENEMY STRONG POINT WAS MENTIONED IN SIR DOUGLAS HAIG'S DESPATCH FOR DISTINGUISHED AND GALLANT SERVICES AND DEVOTION TO DUTY. 'He asked Life of Thee and Thou gavest him a long Life even for ever and ever.' (On the helmet) WORN BY LIEUT. THE HONBLE A.E.G.A. KEPPEL 2ND BATTN THE RIFLE BRIGADE AT THE TIME OF HIS DEATH IN ACTION AT WESTHOEK, NEAR YPRES, JULY 31ST 1917.
