About the memorial: East window. By Robert Anning Bell RA, Lowndes & Drury Unveiled 12 May 1918. Window in east wall of chancel A five-light stained glass window with figures depicted in the three central lights and inscription at the base of them. Dedicatory bronze plaque mounted on the wall to the left. Figure of Sir Galahad leading a white horse depicted in the centre light, this is a portrait of William Torquil Macleod Bolitho. Sir Galahad is flanked by two angels and haloed children. In the outer left light is an image of Ypres with two angels and the shield of Cornwall below. in the outer right light is an image of Chateau Hooge with an angel with a trumpet and a shield of Flanders depicted on it below.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

Before applying for a grant you should read the advice available on War Memorials Trust`s website. The What we can and cannot fund helpsheet explains what types of work the charity can fund.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

Centre light: in honour of/ William Torquil/ Macleod Bolitho centre left light: Lieut 19th Hussars, born 13 Nov 1892/ fell in action at Chateau Hooge,/ second battle of Ypres, 24 May 1915 centre right light: "and you will speed us onward/ with a cheer, and wave beyond/ the stars that all is well" far left light: Ypres far right light: Hooge plaque: to/ gallant/ men/ this window/ is also in memory of/ his uncle/ Lieutenant/ Torquil Macleod RN/ HMS Serpent/ wrecked off the coast/ of Spain Nov 10th 1890/ and of his cousin/ midshipman/ Torquil Harry/ Lionel RN/HMS. Goliath/ and his shipmates/ of the parish of Paul/ (names)/ who went down with their/ ships in the Dardanelles/ 13th May 1915/ and in honoured memory of/ all those who died with them.
