About the memorial: The war memorial which consists of a number of marble rectangle columns set in a semi circle with a small memorial block at the base of the semi-circle. Some of the columns have been dedicated to either battles or actions, ie Battle of the Atlantic, Battle of Britain etc. The memorial is set in a remembrance garden and also has other memorials including one for the RIR. The garden situated between the sea and the town, On the south western side of the memorial is a 25 pounder gun. The memorial is new and was dedicated in 1972 and rededicated in 2013. The columns are approx. 10 feet high
