About the memorial: A nowy-headed cast bronze plaque on a wooden backboard. The plaque has a raised decorative border and a wyvern in relief in a roundel at the head. The incised inscription is in upright capital block lettering with the names in eleven columns. The wooden backboard has a moulded edge. The plaque is accompanied by a small supplementary plaque bearing unveiling information, but see the important comment below. It is on platform 1. It was originally at the Locomotive Works on Railway Terrace. That has now been demolished and the site is part of Pride Park.
