About the memorial: Battlefield cross for Capt Arthur Tylston Greg, son of the former owners of Quarry Bank Mill. The cross was discovered in an attic in the 1970s and is now on display. Arthur was killed when his plane was shot down on 23 April 1917. His brother Robert died from wounds on 3 May 1918. Alexander, the remaining brother, gave the Styal estate to the National Trust in 1939. When surveyed in April 2017 the cross was in Quarry Bank Archives, not on display. Please enquire before visiting. See photos on The Returned website link.
