About the memorial: Square-based polished grey granite memorial with pink granite columns inset at each corner. Classical detailing and engraved floral decoration. Unpainted leaded lettering on all four sides commemorates First World War casualties. Surmounted by octagonal-based polished grey granite tapered column with fleur-de-lys finial. Base of column decorated with carved ivy motifs. Pedestal of memorial in three levels: top level is polished grey granite with carved border; middle level is unpolished grey granite; bottom level is concrete. Polished grey granite tablet commemorating Second World War casualties rests against lower levels of base.Sits in a grass enclosure surrounded by cast-iron chain-link fencing, painted black, set into a continuous concrete foundation. No direct access to memorial provided. For WW1 the names are arranged by year of death and the home address is given. For WW2 the branch of the services they were serving in is given.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

Before applying for a grant you should read the advice available on War Memorials Trust`s website. The What we can and cannot fund helpsheet explains what types of work the charity can fund.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.
