About the memorial: The memorial is to two brothers, Richard and Donald, both in the RAF, who were killed in the Second World War. They were the heirs to Gunby Hall. (St Peter's Church is in the grounds of Gunby Hall, a National Trust property, but is not owned by the National Trust.) P/O R L Leith Hay Clark was Rear Gunner on 35 Sqn Halifax W7657 TL-L that had departed Graveley at 2001 for Ops Saarbrucken on 19/09/42 The aircraft was the one probably intercepted at 2600M near Blesme, by a Night-Fighter captained by Lt Ferdinand Christiner (IV/NJG4) and shot down for his 1st Abschusse. The aircraft crashed at Blesme, France at 0107. Three crew were killed including OC 35 Sqn, three more became POW
