About the memorial: The War Memorial Chapel, in regular use since 1949, commemorates former pupils of Our Lady's High School and St Joseph's High School who fell in WWII. It houses original artworks specially created by eminent Scottish artists Walter Pritchard and Sadie McLellan. The reredos features a unique large Madonna and Child sculpture in copper and brass. This is surmounted by a stained glass window of St. George and the Dragon illustrating Good overcoming Evil. The sandstone altar exhibits bas-relief sculpture of the Annunciation. Lifesize murals of Christ's Crucifixion and Resurrection adorn side walls. On each side of the nave are large regimental insignia in gold/silver leaf and smaller regimental plaques. Names of those commemorated are inscribed in a bound Roll of Honour on permanent display and also on a brass wall plaque. The Memorial can be visited by contacting the school.
