About the memorial: This is almost a redundant church, seldom used, only on special occasions such as a Christmas Carol Service and the occasional bell ringing. At the time of this survey, the graveyard was very overgrown, being waist high in cow parsley and nettles. The church is securely locked with a massive padlock, but a notice on the main door of the church indicates as to where a key may be obtained to gain access.Inside the church, on the south wall of the nave is a simple wooden plaque containing the names of the fallen and those who went to the Great War.The dark oak stained wooden plaque measuring 1150 mm high and 1700 mm wide and is fixed to the wall 1470 mm from the floor. The simple wooden cross adorns the top of the memorial, and at time of the visit in May 2005, a wreath of poppies lay underneath the memorial. The names on the memorial are clearly visible in gold lettering: - The whole memorial is in a really good condition and it is hoped that the fabric of the church will not change through little use and maintenance. This is an extract from the faculty book currently held in Lincolnshire Archives. To provide and place a memorial tablet on the south wall of the nave of the parish church of Yarburgh in memory of the parishioners who lost their lives in the Great War, that the said memorial tablet is to be of Carved Oak and is to bear the following inscription. “Greater Love hath no man than this” followed by a list under the word “Sacrifice” of those who have lost their lives, and a list under the word “Served” of those who have returned safely. Faculty Book 13, page360, dated 6-11-1919 I have yet to discover exactly as when this faculty was placed in the church. Carved wooden triptych with gold lettering.
