About the memorial: A composite memorial of oaken boards and panelling. The memorial begins on the north wall of the nave behind the choir stalls with an oaken board of four panels. It has a pediment over the central two panels with a moulded cornice at the top and a carved tympanum with blind tracery incorporating a latin cross in a wreath at the centre and curvilinear tracery with roundels containing cusped quatrefoils. The pediment is flanked by carvings of a laurel wreath and a palm frond. The opening inscription runs across the stepped top rail and is carved in upright capital decorative lettering in relief. The heads of the four panels each contain further blind tracery, including two roundels each containing three cusped quatrefoils. The panels contain the names in single columns incised in upright capital block lettering. The inscription is concluded along the bottom rail in upright capital decorative lettering in relief and the whole board is supported from the floor by three slender brackets. The memorial continues in the apsidal chancel with five sections of dado panelling, each containing panels similar in style to those in the board. The two end panels are taller and pedimented and the remainder are headed by a moulded dado rail. There are no panels behind the altar. A final panel, possibly added later, is located after the dado panelling in the gap between it and the organ. It is taller, narrower, lacks the tracery and has a simple triangular arch cornice at the head. It has two panels, arranged vertically: the upper one contains names; the lower is blank. The church is at the rear of the Parish Centre. The memorial is on the north wall wall of the nave and around the perimeter of the apsidal nave, terminating on the organ. There is also a modern Book of Remembrance which is usually displayed in the Choir Stalls. It is a comb-bound book of paper pages printed from a word processor and containing biographical details of many service personnel who were engaged in WW1 and some who were in WW2. The biographies are enhanced by extracts from press articles, photographs etc. By definition it is NOT a war memorial in it's own right, but is a valuable adjunct to the memorial.
