Two men recorded on the memorial are the Teasdale brothers. The Teasdale family had moved around East Yorkshire a bit in the early 1900s and they are also recorded in Hull, Hornsea and Cottingham. Albert Teasdale a former resident of Finkle Street, Cottingham was a Reservist in 1914, and as a former Coldstream Guardsman he was called up in August 1914. He was wounded very early on in the war and died of wounds to the abdomen on the 9th September 1914, and is buried in the churchyard at Seint-et Marne. His younger brother Samuel also serving with the Coldstream Guards was killed in August 1917 at the Battle of Pilkem Ridge. Both men are described in detail in my publication (First Gun Shots of the Great War Hull men at the front in 1914-15).
