About the memorial: A blue painted board with gold lettering. The lower edge and sides have a plain frame. The top is peaked with a thicker frame. There is a symbol in the peaked top of the board.. Canadian Armed Forces: From the information board:-New treble presented by Canadian Armed Forces in 1917 in memory of the Canadian army who fought in the Great War. Previous treble recast in memory of Parishioners of Brabourne who fought in the Great War.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

ST Mary The Virgin, Brabourne / the Bells of this Church / Were increased from five to six in 1917 when the Canadian Armed Forces / presented a new treble. It bears the inscription: /"CANADA" / TO THE GLORY OF GOD GIVEN BY SUBSCRIPTION / IN MEMORY OF THE CANADIAN ARMY WHO FOUGHT IN / THE GREAT WAR. / At the same time the previous treble was recast, and is inscribed: / RECAST BY SUBSCRIPTION TO THE GLORY / OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF THE PARISHIONERS / OF BRADBOURNE WHO FOUGHT IN THE GREAT WAR. / (The text continues giving the more recent history of the bells.
