Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
Before applying for a grant you should read the advice available on War Memorials Trust`s website. The What we can and cannot fund helpsheet explains what types of work the charity can fund.
If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.
The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

The Inscription reads:- Panel No 1 1914 – 1919 To the Glory of God and in memory of all those who from this Church and Parish laid down their lives in the service of God King and Country during the Great War. This Chapel is dedicated November 9th 1919 Panel No 13 Grant them O Lord Eternal rest and let light perpetual shine upon them A Sanctuary Lamp in the war Memorial Chapel with the inscription:- To the Glory of God and in loving memory of Douglas Emmerson (Cpl RAF) who was killed in active service in India 19th July 1944. This lamp was given by his parents brothers and sisters. A Sanctus Bell in the War Memorial Chapel with the inscription:- Presented to Christ Church Staincliffe To the Glory of God and in loving memory of Frank Edward Mills Q.M.S. who lost his life at sea July 30th 1944 The Priest’s Kneeling Desk also in the War Memorial Chapel which reads:- To the Glory of God and in sacred memory of Joseph Jevons Stone who was killed in action on the 18th day of Sept 1916. This Litany Desk was placed in the Church by his father and Mother, John and Annie Stone, and the candlesticks on the alter given by his brother William Thomas Stone RIP The Missal Stand in the Christ Child Chapel – Was given by his Mother to Christ Church Staincliffe in memory of Private John Spencer who died in active service in Burma July 20th 1944 aged 27 years Confessional Prayer Desk with the inscription which reads:- To the Glory of God and in memory of the Staincliffe Men who fell in the Great War, this prayer desk is given by John W. Barron and his wife Florence E. Barron November 9th 1919 Plaque No 1 is a white marble memorial with the inscription which reads:- To the Glory of God and in loving Memory of Lieutenant Reginald Earl Laxton 16th West Yorkshire Regiment attached 93/1 Trench Mortar Battery Aged 21 years Youngest and dearest son old George and Edith Laxton of Dryfield House Batley Killed in action on the Somme. 10th June 1916 “Blessed are the pure in Heart” Plaque No 2 is a brass tablet memorial set in a wooded frame with the following inscription To the Glory of God and in memory of Pte. John Appleyard D.L.I. who was killed in action in France on August 7th 1917, also Pte. Alfred Haggerston who died a Prisoner of War at Montigny on June 25th 1918. This tablet is erected by their fellow Choirmen and was unveiled on Nov 7th 1920 Plaque No 3 is a. memorial in brass surrounded by a wooden frame with the following inscription which reads:- To the Glory of God and in loving memory of Alfred Haggerston who died a Prisoner of War on June 25th 1918. This crucifix is given by his Father and Mother “Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friend”
