About the memorial: The park is near the WWI memorial which is in the middle of the adjacent roundabout with Matlock Street (otherwise known as Rutland Square)-WMO/109453. The memorial is the small park which appears to have two memorial sites based on the photographs. One flagpole is sited towards the back of the gardens in a small area with a pond, next to a building on one side and walled with gate marked Royal British Legion Memorial Garden. Seperately there is a freestanding monument to the fallen of WWII and Korea comprising a square sandstone ashlar pedestal bearing bronze plaques and surmounted by a flagstaff. The sandstone ashlar pedestal has a moulded capstone and plinth and surmounts a square ashlar base over a circular one. The 6 o'clock face bears an inscription incised in upright capital roman lettering and the other three faces bear bronze plaques with raised fluted borders and raised inscriptions in upright capital block lettering. In the centre of the capstone is a circular bronze socket bearing the tall flagstaff which normally carries a Union Flag.
