About the memorial: At the southern entrance to the town (A76). The town is south of Kilmarnock. An obelisk on a square plinth surmounted by an urn. Names and inscription on a slate plaque. The Mauchline war memorial is constructed of red sandstone (presumably from the Aurshire quarries) with a tall column standing on a pedestal with Roman ionic capital crowned with an urn. A belt of bronze encirlcles the pedestal and is divided into panels with the names of the fallen of WW1- on 3 sides with each side divided into 5 sections, the 4th side is the dedication. Two additional bronze panels bear the names of the fallen of WW2. The whole sits on a 3 stage base and has railings around

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
