About the memorial: A shrine constructed in sandstone across what appears to have originally been the entrance gateway to the old kirk. The flanking pillars bear the date 1703 which is presumably the date of the construction of the kirk itself. The memorial has three bronze tablets bearing the commemoration and names of the dead, with a shield and lion rampant carved in the sandstone above, and a wreath and the words 'PRO PATRIA' in bronze beneath. Cast iron railings surround the frontage of the memorial. According to the Historic Scotland listing there is a WW2 memorial inside the former Church- WMO/301527' a physical visit is required. There are a total of 22 names

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
