About the memorial: The war memorial takes the form of a Gothic style arched gateway which leads to the Campsie churchyard and cemetery. The structure with a large arched opening in the centre and a small pedestrian arch to the left hand side (when viewed facing the front elevation), stand about 6m tall at its highest point reducing to about 3m over smaller arch. To either side of the main arch there are decorative projecting caved stone buttress, surmounted with carved stone pinnacles, inset with stone plaques incised with the First World War roll on honour. To the left of the pedestrian arch is a further smaller less decorative buttress and bronze plaque with the Second War World roll on honour. Above the main arch is relief caved inscription, and to either side relief stone caved angels. Mounted on the top of the structure is a stone caved decorative cross. There are decorative iron gates to both arched openings.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
