About the memorial: The memorial takes the form of a decorative plaque of bronze and copper. The centre panel bears a relief of the London Troops Memorial, which stands in front of the Royal Exchange. There are two coats of arms in copper relief in the top corners. Previously on board the ship HMS President. Now attached to a building which bears that name as HQ of RNVR. This is the same as WMO/85415 which is located in Fulham as more than one were produced.

This memorial is now attached to an internal wall of the Drill Hall at the HMS PRESIDENT building at 72 St Katherine's way Wapping. Though some names on the bronze are a little difficult to read I would still assess the condition of the entire memorial as good.

 Beneath the memorial and standing against the same internal wall are two narrow oblong cabinets listing names of WWI casualties. The inscription on each of those cabinets reads HONOUR AND REMEMBER THESE OFFICERS AND MEN OF THE LONDON DIVISION ROYAL NAVAL VOLUNTEER RESERVE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES 1914 1919

I was told by the historian to HMS President that these two cabinets were originally attached to the River Thames parapet at Kings Reach where the vessel was berthed on either side of the gangway to the vessel. The cabinets were removed to 72 St Katherine's way when the vessel left Kings Reach. 

In addition there also now attached two further bronze plaques to the internal wall of the Drill Hall which were also once on the Thames Parapet wall. One plaque reads 1939-1945 ALSO IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN WORLD WAR II and the other reads 1939-1945 THE NAMES OF THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES ARE INSCRIBED IN THE ROLL OF HONOUR ON BOARD

These cabinets and plaques are all in good condition
The Roll of Honour for World War II and a Roll of Honour for World War I with names inscribed on parchment also hang on the internal Drill Hall wall.

Relevant photographs of the above memorials and plaques are being sent to the War Memorials Trust who may arrange for them to be posted to this website.

Access to the Drill Hall and HMS PRESIDNT generally was difficult to achieve as this is a current building in use by the Royal Naval Reserve. Written application would be needed.

A photograph on this website perhaps taken in 2001 appears to show two white stone memorial on either side of the main WWI copper and bronze memorial. The historian to HMS President had no knowledge of these white stone memorials and the precise site shown in the photograph has yet to be identified. Further enquiries may be made.
