About the memorial: The ornate plaque with the sculpted figures was erected by a Miss Winser after WW1. The separate plaque with WW2 names was added after 1945. Thw WW1 names appear to be set into the top of the stone base.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

Upper plaque: TO THE GLORY OF/ GOD AND IN/ LOVING MEMORY OF/ (Names)/ WHO GAVE THEIR/ LIVES FOR US IN THE/ GREAT WAR 1914-1918/ AND IN GRATEFUL RECOGNITION OF THE WORK AND SACRIFICE OF ALL/ THOSE OF THIS PARISH WHO SERVED AND SURVIVED./ THE FULL ROLL OF THOSE WHO SERVED IS PRESERVED ON THE PARISH CHEST Lower plaque: ALSO OF/ (Names)/ CONNECTED WITH THIS PARISH WHOSE NAMES/ APPEAR ON OTHER MEMORIALS Interpretation board: THE WAR MEMORIAL was designed/ and executed by Miss Winser whose/ brother lived at that time at Eastwood/ (the house to the east of the Church)./ Its symbolism is inspired by words/ from "Pilgrims Progress". It records/ the names of 23 parishioners who gave/ their lives in the First World War./ The plinth of local stone added since/ is in memory of the 22 parishioners who died in the Second World War.
