As a conservation charity which gives grants War Memorials Trust can support repair and conservation works that follow best conservation practice. Grants are awarded from funds raised by the charity so money available is limited and is therefore focused on eligible war memorials.

WALTER WARD- (Private, 40532, 7th Bn Bedfordshire Regiment (formerly 29102, Essex Regiment), killed in action on 16 November, 1916, aged 38. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France. Son of William Ward, of Brewery Yard, White Hart Lane, Swaffham, Norfolk: husband of Harriett Ward, of 2 Albert Terrace, Swaffham. He is also commemorated on the WW1 memorial in the Church of St Peter and St Paul, and on the town war memorial in the Market Square.)
