About the memorial: Highly polished Brass Plaque, At the front of the west hand (right) wall of the chapel, with the names of the casualties in three columns, and those of the served & returned in four columns. This was in the Victoria Square (by the Railway station) chapel until 1957 when the two chapels merged into the old Primitive Methodist Chapel. This memorial is unusual in acknowledging the role of women in the war.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

WILLIAMSON **Mary Surtees Blacklock was born at Harrington, but living in Northumberland in 1911 where she was a nurse at Newcastle Workhouse. Sarah Miller lived at 11 Christian Street, and was the daughter of a Loco Engineman at the Blast Furnace, Steelworks. Richard, Alfred, David, Ernest, Joseph, Thomas and Stanley Shackley were all sons of Joseph Shackley-lived at 1 Primrose Terrace, Builder & Clerk of Sewerage Works in 1901**
