About the memorial: 1st window from west of the nave in the south wall. Three light stained glass window depicting the Parable of the Prodigal Son, a green living cross grows into the tree of life with 12 fruits as represented in Revelations (from which the tracery inscription is taken). Also depicted are the flames of war being reconciled into peace, and the Sacraments of Baptism and the Eucharist, plus the community work of the Church- Baptism, Marriage, Caring for Children and the Elderly, and anointing the sick. Given in memory of a young soldier who died a natural death while on military service.Just in shot on the photograph, on the windowsill, are a row of poppy crosses which indicate Mr Dyer’s role in the military. He was A8431467 of 34 Squadron, RAF based at Leeming Bar, Yorkshire. He was born 14 May 1980 and died 14 October 2001. His ashes are interred at Salterbeck Cemetery, Workington.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
