Formerly stood in the village outside the post office until moved into the porch in 1924 having been defaced with the words 'of the Parish of Thorpe Abbotts' scratched out. The post office memorial plaque commemorating World War 1 takes the form of a wooden board, with an arched roof and a crucifix placed in the centre, top, of the boarding. The names of those who died are within a wooden frame affixed to the plaque. The memorial is dated All Souls Day, 1917.
