About the memorial: A splendid example of a full coloured Roll of Honour with full calligraphy. At the Centre top are the Oddfellows Society Coat of Arms. On the left hand side this is flanked by a soldier in the foreground, and a battle scene in the background/ On the right hand side it is flanked by a sailor in the foreground and a battleship in the background. The Coat of Arms is draped at the bottom with the Union Flag and the White Ensign. (The above is the standard Oddfellows Roll of Honour supplied centrally, below is that which is added locally) Below this is the dedicatory script, and at bottom is a drawing of a wall mounted memorial, with the phrase, “Greater love hath no man..,” in a drawn plaque at the top, and the “They are in peace” on the bottom of the drawn memorial. The whole has borders of green intertwined leaves. It was originally mounted in a frame. That frame was removed by the Archives Conservation Department on 2 November 2022 as it had no merit, and makes the Roll of Honour more practical to store long term. Moved here 11 November 1983 with many other records, as the Society diminished in size. In 1923 the hall was at Great Dockray in the town centre, over the years the hall changed location several times. Document Reference DSO 83/56
