The two sides bear the dates in elongated quatrefoil recesses and the back is plain. The pillar sits on a moulded plinth and is capped by a pedimented stone surmounted by a battered pedestal bearing an urn draped with foliage. The grey slate tablet is affixed to the 6 o'clock face of the pillar and bears a Latin cross at the head flanked by laurel sprays and union flags.
