About the memorial: A free-standing First World War Memorial for employees of C and E Morton Ltd., of the Rosemount Provision Works (now demolished). It is a Rubislaw granite monolith, with inscriptions of dedication, the names, ranks and units of those that fell and further inscriptions to employees who served, as well as to its re-erection by the British Legion.

Aberdeen Press and Journal - Monday 31 May 1920 -ROSEMOUNT FIRM'S WAR MEMORIAL. EMPLOYEES OF MORTON, LTD. -At the works Messrs C. and E. Morton, Ltd., preserved provision manufacturers, South Mount Street, Aberdeen, on Saturday, Mrs Adcock, wife of W. Adcock, manager, unveiled a memorial in memory of the employees of the works who fell in the war. The memorial is in the form of a tablet erected on the outside wall of the factory office South Mount Street. It is of Kemnay granite, with crossed rifle and sword relief, and bears the following inscription — "1914 —1919. C. and E. Morton, Ltd., this tablet is erected by the directors and the employees to the glorious memory of the employees from this factory who made the supreme sacrifice for their country the great war." Twelve names raised in leaded letters follow, and inscription at the bottom tells that 78 employees from the factory served with H.M. Forces during the war. The memorial is the work of Henry Hutcheon. Ltd. Mrs Adcock, in unveiling the memorial, said they were all proud and thankful to be with a firm who acted so generously toward their employees during the war, and had found employment for all those of the staff who returned. In true thankfulness of heart for the noble sacrifice of those who had fallen, they all desired that the names which were engraved on the memorial tablet — names would ever be kept green in the hearts of their own personal relatives and friends, would remind them as they went out and in to their various duties of how much they owed to the sacrifice of their one time fellow workers.
