About the memorial: Mounted brass relief of St Paul’s Cathedral engulfed by flames, with bronze sculpture of three firemen in action. On either side, wooden wall panels inscribed with dedication and names. A circular early 1950s sgraffito floor panel depicts the areas of the London Civil Defence Region Fire Services, with inscribed brass plaque underneath.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

(On brass floor plaque): ON THE OUTBREAK OF WORLD WAR II THE REGULAR FIREMEN OF THE LONDON FIRE BRIGADE AND OF THE/ OTHER FIRE BRIGADES OF THE LONDON CIVIL DEFENCE REGION WERE JOINED BY THE MEN & WOMEN OF/ THE AUXILIARY FIRE SERVICES WHO AHD ENROLLED FOR WARTIME SERVICE./ EACH BRIGADE RETAINED ITS OWN IDENTITY BUT ALL WORKED SIDE BY SIDE TO FIGHT THE FIRES CAUSED/ BY GERMAN BOMBING DURING THE BLITZ OF 1940-1941./ ON THE CREATION OF THE NATIONAL FIRE SERVICE IN AUGUST 1941 THESE BRIGADES WERE COMBINED TO FORM/ THE FIRE DEFENCE OF THE LONDON REGION AND FOUGHT THE LATER INCENDIARY, FLYING BOMB & ROCKET ATTACKS.
