About the memorial: Standing at the southern end of the car park at the junction of Memorial Way and Thetford Road, on the A1075.A Latin cross, upon a square, tapered, pyramidal plinth, atop a tall square column, sitting on a square plinth upon a two-tier square base. The whole upon a larger square base, enclosed by eight short ornamental pillars linked by chains. The front (north) face bears the general commemoration, emblazoned with a bronze wreath of laurels, whilst the remaining three faces bear the names of 30 men who gave their lives in WW1 (9 on the west face; 10 on the east face; and 11 on the south face): these are listed in surname alphabetical order, followed by first name and rank. Above the names on the east face is a bronze tablet bearing the names of 16 men and one woman who gave their lives in WW2, again listed alphabetically by surname, preceeded by first names, and followed by rank and service/unit. Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
