About the memorial: Levington war memorial stands on the south side of St. Peter's Church, overlooking fields and marshes towards the River Orwell. It was designed by Mr. C. F. Eden, and built by E. E. Saunders of Ipswich. The memorial was paid for by public subscription arranged by the Levington Post Mistress Mrs. Woolnough. The unveiling was carried out by Sir Arthur Money on the 29th September 1920. The memorial takes the form of a stone cross on a Clipsham stone plinth some 12 feet high, standing on four graduated stone squares on which the names of the fallen are inscribed (twelve names from WWI and four from WWII).
