About the memorial: Large, handwritten, Roll of Honour on paper. A long, relatively thin oblong decorated at the top with a circular Union Flag with a garlanded victory wreath border, below a blue ribbon completes the decoration. Around the perimeter of the names which dominate the centre of the Roll are twenty-three flags, each drawn wind-winnowed in a circle. The countries chosen are diverse; Russia, Belgium, Japan, Morocco, Algeria, Venezuela, Switzerland, Haiti, Argentine Republic, Netherlands, Italy, Ireland, Spain, Denmark, USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, Ecuador, Guatemala, Romania, France, Slavia In addition to the listed names, abbreviations of which regiments each served in are listed, as are some notes, illegible in the photograph, which may give details about the fallen’s deaths. Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.
