About the memorial: The memorial is literally in the middle of the road at the junction of the road to the Church. Cairn shaped monument. Front formed with a polished slab bearing the inscription, above which is a First World War steel helmet surrounded by polished border. Early in 2009, inhabitants of Kirkinner woke to find the memorial partially demolished, presumably by a truck trying to turn in the road, but no sign of the truck and no-one owned up to it.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
