About the memorial: Described as an 'Eleanor Cross'. Large stone structure with cross at top. Tapering structure, four levels of niches. Structure surmounts nine-stepped stone base. Top tier of niches contain four stone figures of Queen Eleanor. The second level of niches are closed with carved stone and finials. The third level of niches contains further, larger figures of Queen Eleanor. The fourth and lowest level of niches bears bronze reliefs of the fallen of the First World War with plaques bearing text below. Figures in bronze relief are surmounted by shields decorated with coats of arms.
