About the memorial: Cross dedicated to those who lost their lives during the First World War. The memorial was erected in 1917, before the war had ended. The sculptor was Arthur Walker, who made the statue of Florence Nightingale, which now forms part of the memorial to the Crimean War in Wellington Place.
