About the memorial: It is believed that the Ewell Great War Memorial bench was originally placed in St. Mary's churchyard in Ewell c1919.Over 30 years ago it was vandalised but was rescued by Frank Meineck who repaired it. The bench has remained in the family's garden since then but has now been returned to Bourne Hall Museum, the original site of Garbrand Hall which was where the Hopkinson family had lived between 1919-1925.
