About the memorial: This monument consists of a marble figure of a soldier wearing service dress with cap and 1908 pattern webbing with his rifle at the order. He stands atop a red granite pedestal with incised gold painted lettering. The memorial has recently been re-erected following the construction of a new school in the village with an access road in the place of the old war memorial (NGR: SN 50193 45867, Lat: 52.090819, Long: -4.1880742). It is now located nearby (NGR: SN 50177 45858, Lat:52.090727, Long: -4.1882995). The memorial itself retains its original orientation but the semicircular precinct in which it stands is now turned about 90 degrees from its original orientation.
