About the memorial: This memorial was originally located in the small disused chapel at Holbeach St Matthews in a very dilapidated condition. The original panelling on which the names and inscription had been painted was of plywood. This was peeling and breaking away. Spalding Branch of the Western Front Association undertook to renovate the memorial with PCC's permission in Spring 2002. The original framework was retained, cleaned and repaired and a new front panel (in plywood as per the original) was added. An exact copy of the original lettering was then painted on in black paint and then the entire memorial varnished. It was re-dedicated in a new position in St Mark's Parish Church on the 16th October 2003. The names record all those who served with markers to indicate those who were wounded and those killed.
