About the memorial: Dedicated to Lieutenant Reginal Evelyn Atherstone Hales 1st East Yorkshire Regiment Regiment. He was killed in action at Saran Sar on 16/11/1897. A week earlier he had saved a comrade's life serving with the Tirah Expeditionary Force.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

EYR Badge at top. 'To the Glory of God and in memory of Reginald Evelyn Atherstone Hales, Lt. 1st Bt. East Yorkshire Regiment. Born January 8th 1872. Killed in action at Saran-Sar on the night of 16th November 1897 whilst attached to the 1st Dorset Rgt. for duties with the Tirah Expeditionary Force. A week before this action he gallantry saved a wounded soldier's life carrying him whilst under fire to a place of safety. This tablet erected by his brother officers.'
