About the memorial: Hand Painted 1920. Unveiled 4th August 1921 by Mr. H.J. Stephenson, Assistant Divisional Superintendent.Reframed in 1988 by University of Newcastle on Tyne. Wooden oak frame is good, the paper ROH is starting to flake due to age, Fair, but conservation required on the ROH. 'Executed entirely by workmen of the department'. J. Mounsey, assistant fitter, Heaton Shed, did the artwork; Mr. J. Raine, signalman, did the printing. In 1920.

Roll of Honour in glass fronted fumed oak frame 61 inches high x 45 inches wide (1.57m x 1.14m) with side rolled pillars and a shallow pedimented top. There are pictures in the corners of (bottom left) a ship, (top left) a tank, (top right) an aeroplane and (bottom right) a submarine. The title is set on a ribbon below a shield supporting several flags. The names of those who fell are listed at the bottom inside a laurel wreath.
