About the memorial: Timber board containing the names of seven men and one woman. This was originally in the Reception area at the Kelvin, Bottomley and Baird factory in Winchester Road, Basingstoke, which later became part of Smiths Industries on the same site. The factory closed in 2006, and was succeeded by Vibro-Meter/Meggitt plc in Jays Close. Maintenance Engineers Les Ward and Gordon Cameron rescued the memorial from the old building and transferred it to their new workshop at Vibro-Meter. In 2010, it was donated to The Willis Museum in Basingstoke (see link). At somepoint it may have been in the Milstones Museum but this is unclear. WMO/227868 and WMO/270297 will be merged into this record as they are duplicates.
