About the memorial: Circular stone built low column with circular cap centred by bronze plaque. The cenotaph on Werneth Low was unveiled on 25th June 1921. It was constructed on land known as Hacking Knife, purchased by Hyde Borough Council in 1920. The land is held in trust by the Hyde War Memorial Trust. The site is part of the Werneth Low Country Park.
