About the memorial: St Barnabas was involved in a serious fire in 2007. It is understood that H E Whittal Memorial Screen was destroyed. There were several other war memorials inside the church destroyed, recorded on IWM's catalogue. These include the WWI chapel, WWII peace thanksgiving Bible, Frederick Nocks cross and candlesticks, Lt Fred Tarlington Chapman cross and candlesticks, Lt William D Featherstone M.C. marble tablet, and Kenneth R Clarke communion book.
