About the memorial: The memorial was moved from Hong Kong to the National Army Museum in 1994. It commemorates the bravery and discipline of the soldiers who paraded on deck to evacute te ship in an orderly way when the ship struck a mine in the Indian Ocean. As a result of their discipline all the men were saved. See Link for details and a picture of the whole Stone. The plaque wrongly states that the men were lost when in fact all survived.
