About the memorial: Roughly finished grey granite block with inset polished grey granite plaque carrying engraved lettering painted black. Rests on roughly-finished sandstone block with polished grey granite plaque set against it, with lettering engraved and painted black. Surmounted by polished grey granite Celtic cross with crossed rifle and sword sculpture, dedication and geometric detailing, all in relief. Pedestal one level of concrete. Memorial stands on concrete base enclosed by cement-rendered wall with two round sandstone piers on front elevation either side of white cast iron railings with fleur-de-lys finials. Steps in south-east corner provide access to enclosure over wall.
