About the memorial: Memorial commemorates Squadron Commander Edwin Harris Dunning, who died whilst attempting to land on a moving aircraft carrier (having previously been the first to achieve this). Boulder situated at head of small jetty; bedded in concrete.Boulder survives intact, but carved inscription has entirely eroded and is no longer visible.
