About the memorial: The memorial consists of a tall stone cross on a plinth within Friary Gardens. To each side of the plinth runs a stone wall and on top of this running behind the cross is a planted area. Each side of the wall carries a metal plaque with names of the fallen from the Second World War, while the names from the First World War are inscribed on the plinth.
