About the memorial: A granite obelisk set back from the road within a semi-circular paved area surrounded on three sides by a hedge. War memorial may be built in Jubilee Gardens Thursday, October 11, 2012 Grimsby Telegraph A MEMORIAL honouring the fallen soldiers of past and present wars may soon be built in Tetney. Tetney Parish Council is in the process of applying for grants from East Lindsey District Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund for the memorial. The village is one of the few in the area not to have a war memorial and if it is successful in securing the funds it will be erected in the village's Jubilee Gardens. Councillors envisage it will be a five-metre high needle-shaped plinth and hope it will become a place where residents will come and reflect, which many of them use the Jubilee Gardens to do anyway. The grant will also pay for the redevelopment of the Jubilee Gardens, which will also see a new paving and courtyard area along with the tree honouring their Best Kept Village Title. East Lindsey District Council will decide on the funding in the near future and the parish council are meeting with the parish council today. Parish clerk Susan Booth said: "It is a passion of mine." JUBILEE GARDENS • War Memorial has been ordered and will be complete in approximately 16 weeks. Suggestions for inscription were requested and it was decided to bring suggestions to the next meeting. Tenders were sent out and have been received back – Council to go into closed session to open and discuss the received tenders. MINUTES OF A MEETING OF TETNEY PARISH COUNCIL Held on the 14th March 2013 at Tetney Village Hall JUBILEE GARDENS • Serenity Memorials gave a quote of £500 to make and install a granite surround for the BKV plaque. Proposed by Coun. McMillan, seconded by Coun. Ingoldby. Following a site visit and from the plans, Serenity Memorials said the War Memorial would not fit in the position originally suggested. The successful contractor, GLL, was present and had adapted the original plan so the War Memorial could be sited satisfactorily. New plan accepted and proposed by Coun. McMillan and seconded by Coun. Ingoldby. The commemorative stone will be place within the paved area. GLL also said they could advise on plants. GLL and Serenity will work together to ensure both parts of the project is completed together. MINUTES OF A MEETING OF TETNEY PARISH COUNCIL Held on the 11th April 2013 at Tetney Village Hall
