About the memorial: Blue plaque on the site of the former Masham Railway Station. The station was used to transport and provision the 15thBn the Prince of Wales Own West Yorkshire Regiment, the 'Leeds Pals' whilst at their training camp at Colsterdale.

Masham Station.In gratitude and commemoration of 'The Leeds Pals' 15th (Service) Battalion (1st Leeds) of the Prince of Wales's Own West Yorkshire Regiment. The 'Pals' arrived here 25 September 1914 before marching to Colsterdale to undertake training for the First World War. Many gave the ultimate sacrifice. We will remember them.
